If you’re looking for a wedding venue that combines countryside views with contemporary style, The Barn at Botley Hill is one to have on your list.
Set high in the Surrey Hills, with sweeping views across the North Downs, this modern farmhouse-style barn offers a lovely balance of rustic character and thoughtful design. It feels connected to its countryside setting, while still being close enough to London for couples who want the best of both worlds.
I’m delighted to share that I’m now an official preferred celebrant supplier at The Barn at Botley Hill, and I’d love to hear from couples considering this charming Surrey wedding venue. But first, let’s tuck into the magic here, because it is abundant.
A little history, and a lot of character
The Barn at Botley Hill is part of the historic Titsey Estate, with Botley Hill Farmhouse at the heart of its story. The venue is family-run and welcomed its first events in 2019, bringing a contemporary wedding space to this beautiful stretch of Surrey countryside.
The barn has been designed to make the most of its setting, with reclaimed materials, natural textures and wide windows framing the landscape. It feels modern without losing the warmth and character you’d hope for from a countryside venue.
The views are a real feature here. The North Downs provide a beautiful backdrop throughout the day, and the sunsets are particularly special.
3 distinct spaces at The Barn at Botley Hill
The Oakley Barn is the ceremony space. This lovely red-brick barn has natural light, rustic character and a warm, intimate feel. It’s licensed for civil ceremonies, making it a beautiful place to exchange vows surrounded by your guests.
The Main Barn is the heart of the reception, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out across the countryside. It’s used for dining, speeches and dancing, with the views providing a natural focal point.
The Baby Barn offers a more relaxed space for drinks and canapés, with lounge-style furnishings and a welcoming atmosphere.
Outside, the gardens, decking and gazebo create room for drinks, photographs and time together in the fresh air. The venue also has a wood burner and outdoor furniture, making the grounds feel inviting beyond the summer months. The venue offers exclusive use, so the spaces can flow naturally around your plans for the day. You can find more details on the venue’s wedding page.

A ceremony that feels personal
The Oakley Barn is a beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony, but what makes the moment memorable is what happens within it.
As a celebrant, I work with couples to create ceremonies shaped around their relationship, their personalities and the promises they want to make. That might mean writing personal vows, including a reading from someone important to you, choosing music that carries a story, or creating a symbolic ritual that feels meaningful rather than simply decorative.
A celebrant-led ceremony gives you the freedom to make the experience your own. It can be heartfelt, funny, relaxed, emotional or a combination of all of those things. There’s no need to fit your relationship into a standard script.
If you’re looking for inspiration, you might enjoy my guides to wedding ceremony rituals and writing personal wedding vows. They’re a good place to start if you’re thinking about how to make your ceremony feel more like you.

The wonderful team behind your day
A venue can be beautiful, but it’s the people who make the experience feel effortless.
The Barn at Botley Hill has a dedicated wedding and events team, including Kate, Senior Wedding and Events Manager; Lily and Rachel, Wedding and Events Managers; and Carla, Wedding and Events Coordinator.
They’re supported by the wider grounds and gardening team, who help keep the setting looking its best. The venue describes its approach as helpful and attentive without being intrusive, which is exactly what you want from the people looking after such an important day.
As someone who spent years working in wedding venue coordination, I know how much difference a calm, experienced team makes. When everyone understands the rhythm of a wedding day, couples can relax and actually enjoy it. I can personally vouch for the events team, they are all exceptionally lovely!
A new partnership with Jimmy Garcia Catering
Food is a big part of the experience at Botley Hill, and the venue’s exclusive partnership with Jimmy Garcia Catering, from 2027 onwards, brings an exciting new chapter to its wedding offering.
I was lucky enough to be invited to the media launch celebrating the partnership, where we were treated to an incredible sharing-platter feast from the team’s new outdoor fireside kitchen.
The food was generous, full of flavour and made for sharing. It felt like a lovely match for the venue: thoughtful, sociable and centred around bringing people together. The fireside kitchen adds another dimension to the setting, with flame, smoke and embers at the heart of the new sharing menu.
Jimmy Garcia Catering will also offer plated menus for couples who prefer a more formal dining experience. Menus are designed around each couple’s ideas, rather than simply choosing from a fixed list.
You can read more about the partnership and catering options on The Barn at Botley Hill’s Jimmy Garcia page.
