Two Woods Estate: A Woodland Wedding Venue in Sussex That Feels Like Stepping Into Another World
Some wedding venues are beautiful.
Some are impressive.
And then there are venues that make you involuntarily say, "Oh wow."
Two Woods Estate falls firmly into the third category.
Tucked away near Pulborough in West Sussex, this extraordinary woodland wedding venue is unlike anywhere else I've worked. In fact, it's one of the very few places where photos genuinely don't do it justice.
The couples who fall in love with Two Woods Estate tend to have a few things in common. They’re creative, they love nature , they are free-spirited, sometimes alternative, sometimes boho, they care about the planet, they appreciate being outdoors covered in dappled sunlight, and boy, do they love a good party!
When you visit this place, suddenly you understand, because the magic isn't just in what you see. It's in what you feel.
Two Woods Estate is a full sensory experience.
An enchanted forest wedding venue born from friendship
One of my favourite things about Two Woods Estate is the story behind it.
The venue was founded by lifelong friends Rob and Woody, who have known each other for more than 30 years. The idea for the venue was born after Rob's own woodland wedding in Hampshire, where Woody was best man.
Like many great ideas, it started as a drunken conversation between friends and, unlike many said great ideas fuelled by booze, they actually followed through with it!
That personal story still runs through the venue today.
The redwood grove is the star of the show
Let's talk about the trees.
Because the trees deserve their own section.
Two Woods Estate is home to one of the largest collections of mature redwood trees in Europe, with more than 100 towering giants creating a natural cathedral in the heart of the woodland.
Sure, the word "cathedral" gets thrown around quite a lot in wedding marketing spiel, but honestly here, it actually fits.
I felt fantastically tiny walking around.
The trunks stretch skywards, the light filters through the canopy, and the atmosphere is incredibly peaceful. Guests naturally lower their voices when they enter the grove, I know I did!
There is a stillness to it that feels almost sacred, without being remotely religious, I think that is what makes Two Woods Estate so singular when I consider outdoor wedding venues, the gravitas of the forest is unmatched.
If you're dreaming of an outdoor wedding ceremony surrounded by nature, it's hard to imagine a more breathtaking setting; it transported me right back to the magnificent redwoods of California as a teenager, on my last family holiday with my parents, circa 2006.
The perfect venue for a celebrant-led wedding (& you can marry legally too!)
As a celebrant, this is where I get particularly excited.
Woodland venues and celebrant ceremonies are a match made in heaven.
Or perhaps more accurately, a match made in a redwood forest.
The beauty of a celebrant-led ceremony is that it isn't restricted by rigid structures or scripts. It allows you to fully embrace a setting like this and create something personal, relaxed and meaningful.
Now, as Two Woods Estate is a licensed venue, you can absolutely get legally married in the forest and use a local registrar if that’s your preference. Some couples actually do this the day before the wedding, in jeans and T-shirts, then have a celebrant give them a bespoke ceremony the very next day, in front of all their loved ones, totally their own way - best of both!
Imagine exchanging vows beneath the redwoods.
Birdsong instead of traffic, dappled sunlight filtering through the trees. Your guests seated in the woodland rather than a function room.
It feels immersive in a way traditional ceremony spaces rarely do.

While the redwoods understandably steal much of the attention, there's far more to Two Woods Estate than the ceremony space.
The estate spans 42 acres of woodland and meadow, creating a natural flow through the day. Couples can move from the redwood grove into drinks and lawn games in the meadow, before heading to the barn and covered terrace for food, speeches and dancing.
There's also a beautiful wedding loft for getting ready and spending the night, plus camping opportunities in the meadow for guests who aren't quite ready for the celebration to end.
It's one of those rare venues where the entire day feels connected as it fully facilitates a natural progression from ceremony to celebration.
As for suppliers, you select your own off-site caterers or food trucks (hello taco’s!) organise a teepee company to set your guests up in the meadow and if you feel you even need a florist beyond the stunning foliage of mother nature, there is plenty of ways to further dress the barns and outdoor areas.
Planning a woodland wedding in Sussex, with bags of heart?
If you're searching for a woodland wedding venue in Sussex, a forest wedding venue, an outdoor wedding venue in West Sussex, an alternative, boho, nature-loving wedding venue - Two Woods Estate really does tick all of the boxes.
Another thing I love about Two Woods Estate is its commitment to sustainability.
The venue actively protects and maintains its redwood woodland, uses timber from the estate itself, works with local suppliers and continues to invest in the landscape around it. Importantly, it never feels performative. It's simply woven into the way the venue operates.
Finally, on a personal note - Rob, Woody and their lovely wives ( I only got the pleasure of meeting Caroline, who runs the ship behind the scenes!) are lovely, decent, warm people, a team you would trust implicitly to provide you and your guests with an excellent wedding experience.
So move Two Woods Estate to the very top of your viewing list. Just don't blame me when every other venue feels a little underwhelming afterwards.
