I was lucky enough to be shown around recently, and I kept finding myself stopping mid-conversation simply to look around. Not because it's overly grand or dripping in gold leaf, but because everything feels beautifully balanced. It's elegant without being intimidating, historic without feeling stuffy and quietly confident in a way that only buildings with four hundred years of history seem able to be. As a celebrant, I spend an unhealthy amount of time imagining ceremonies wherever I go. Usually, I'm wondering where the couple might stand or how guests will experience the room. At the Queen's House, I found myself thinking about something else entirely.
Perspective.
Standing inside this remarkable building, with Greenwich Park behind you, the River Thames stretching out in front and Canary Wharf rising in the distance, it feels as though London itself becomes part of your wedding story.
Why are couples choosing the Queen's House for their wedding?

The Queen's House has exactly that quality.
Designed by Inigo Jones and completed in the 1630s, it was England's first truly neo-classical building and remains one of the architectural jewels of Maritime Greenwich, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
But surprisingly, for all its history, it doesn't feel precious. It feels welcoming.
Light floods through the windows, the proportions are beautifully calm and everywhere you look there's another view that quietly steals your attention.

One of my favourite things about visiting wedding venues is trying to imagine the couples who'll choose them.
I don't think people book the Queen's House because they're looking for the biggest wedding in London. I think they book it because they appreciate beauty that lasts.

The Great Hall is every bit as breathtaking as you've heard
The heart of the venue is, without question, the magnificent Great Hall.
With its striking black-and-white marble floor, soaring ceiling and perfect symmetry, it somehow feels both regal and intimate at the same time. It's licensed for wedding ceremonies, wedding breakfasts and receptions, comfortably hosting up to 120 guests, as can the magnificent Undercroft for dancing and evening celebrations. Outside, the colonnades and south lawns open up even more possibilities, with outdoor ceremonies, drinks receptions and marquee celebrations all a wondrous possibility.
What I loved most wasn't the scale. It was the way the building gently guides your day from one chapter to the next.

Then dancing long into the evening beneath the vaulted ceilings of the Undercroft. It all feels wonderfully effortless.
Why I think this venue deserves a celebrant-led ceremony
The Queen's House has witnessed four centuries of history. Your ceremony should feel worthy of becoming part of it.
As a celebrant, that's always where my mind goes first.
A venue this remarkable doesn't need a generic ceremony that could happen anywhere. It deserves stories that belong only to you. The sort of stories that make grandparents laugh, best friends cry and complete strangers feel like they've known you for years.
