Within about ten minutes of stepping foot inside the magical old timber store, it became obvious that this wasn't going to be one of those anonymous, corporate wedding venues where you're simply another booking in the diary.
It's a genuinely family-run business, built by people who care enormously about creating brilliant experiences, and I think that warmth is something you feel almost immediately when you walk through the doors.

Tucked beneath the Victorian railway arches on Maltby Street in Bermondsey, it's one of those places that somehow manages to feel like London's best-kept secret, despite being only a short walk from London Bridge. The venue sits within the wonderful community that has grown around Maltby Street Market, where independent food producers, wine merchants, cafés and bars spill out beneath the arches every weekend.
When I visited, that sense of community was one of the first things I noticed.

There's a genuine buzz under the arches. People wander between artisan bakeries, natural wine bars, restaurants and coffee shops, and there's this wonderfully creative energy that makes the whole area feel alive. Every venue has its own personality. The Old Timber Store's isn't polished hotel luxury or grand stately home elegance. Instead, it reminds me of something you'd stumble across in rural France. The exposed timber beams, original brickwork, soft lighting and weathered textures all combine to create a space that feels intimate, relaxed and incredibly romantic. I kept imagining long wooden tables, flickering candlelight, chilled Champagne and the sort of wedding where nobody is checking their watch because everyone is too busy talking, laughing and ordering another glass of gorgeous wine.
The venue itself dates back to London's historic railway arches and was thoughtfully restored to retain its industrial character while creating a warm, welcoming ceremony space for intimate weddings of around 55–60 guests.

The team already works closely with neighbouring businesses beneath the arches, making it wonderfully easy to continue your wedding exactly as you want to.
